Access Statement for Glen Alan Guesthouse
Introduction
The Glen Alan is a 10-bedroom guesthouse offering bed and breakfast and also evening meals. The bedrooms are situated over the first, second and third floor. The following statement is a summary of our provisions. Please call us if you have any questions not addressed below.
Pre-arrival
- Bus stops are within 200 metres (level walk), bus station and train station within walking distance, although we do offer a free local station pick up and drop off.
- Local Taxi service has accessible taxi, we can book for you.
- We have a website.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
- We have off street parking outside the guesthouse, free permit on arrival, you may park in any of the A zones with the permit.
- We assist guests with their luggage.
- Various shops including a 24-hour chemist within 2 minutes level walk
Main entrance & Reception
- The inner glass door is always locked for security reasons, the main front door is only locked when the owners are not in the building, guests have keys to both doors and bedroom doors.
- There are 2 steps leading to front door height 24cm and 14cm
- Inner porch has tiled floor with carpet over.
- Front Door width is 78cm and Inner door 88cm
- Hallway is 4.20 mtrs to start of stairs, and is 1.80 mtrs wide
Public Areas – General (Internal)
- Breakfast is served in the dining room situated on the ground floor, as is the lounge, both have short pile carpet.
- There are 17 stairs to the first floor where bedroom 1 can be found, there is a further 3 steps to bedrooms 3 and 4.
- There are 12 steps to the second floor to bedrooms 6 & 7, a further 5 steps to bedrooms 9 & 10.
- There are 12 steps to the third floor a 90
º turn to a further 4 steps leading to the top floor suite.
The stairs are 18cm high x 93cm wide x 26 cm depth, handrail is 77cm high.
Public Areas – WC
- All bedrooms are en suite with a public WC on the first floor landing
- Width at handbasin 63cm, toilet 44cm from floor
Restaurant/Dining Room, Bar & Lounges
- Dining room and Guest lounge situated on the ground floor, breakfast is served in the dining room, there are 7 tables with under space of 66cm, width 1.10 mtr overall height 76cm, all chairs are without arms. Tables can be moved upon request.
Laundry
- Launderette is within walking distance from the Glen Alan (level walk)
Shop
- There are shops within 200 yards of the guesthouse and also a town centre about a 5 minutes stroll (level walk)

- There are 10 bedrooms over 3 floors, all rooms are en suite, room 1 and the suite have baths with shower over, all other rooms have shower cubicles, door to en suites are 66 cm wide, shower cubicles are 58cm x 58 cm, step upto shower 28cm
- Room 1 Family room, 1 king size bed with 1 single, short piled carpet
- Room 3 Family room, 1 Double bed with 1 single, short piled carpet
- Room 4 Family room, 1 king size bed with 1 or 2 singles (extra single put in when required)
- Room 6 double room
- Room 7 Single room
- Room 9 Twin room
- Room 10 double room
- Suite – Double bedroom, 2 single bedrooms and a bathroom.
Grounds and Garden
- Front garden level with patio area, hardwood bench and table plus chairs, parasol
- Garden is level with pavement. Small wall for privacy.
Additional Information
- No smoking within building, ashtrays provided in garden.
- Fridge available for storing medication or wine
- Emergency calls can be made from the bar
- Call button for owners at dining room door and at bar, mobile number left on door for emergencies, main number diverted to mobile when owners out of building
